Epcot's Africa Pavilion - The World That Never Was

Epcot's Africa Pavilion - The World That Never Was

Welcome to The World That Never Was: a six part audio series looking at some of the ideas Disney Parks never built and why. The series will look at six different ideas and feature discussions on world culuture, race, politics, protests, religion, death, and more. This is episode one.

Epcot's excitement comes in the form of "edutainment" or educational entertainment. Loosely based on a world's fair, Epcot showcases science and technology as well as world culture. Their World Showcase pavilions are some of my favorite places to spend time at Walt Disney World but there is one looming problem, World Showcase doesn't really represent the entire world.

In this episode we explore the African pavilion that could have been as well as why it was never built. We discuss if there is still a need for an African pavilion or if it could even be built today.

If you are interested in reading more about the Africa pavilion, you can see my original article about it HERE.
